Kathmandu – The Supreme Court is set to continue the hearing today on the writ petition filed by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane and former DIG Chhabilal Joshi.
The hearing, which was adjourned on Thursday without conclusion, will proceed today with the plaintiff's arguments. Lamichhane’s lawyers are expected to present their rebuttal after the plaintiff concludes. A verdict on the writ petition may be issued today.
The bench, comprising Justices Dr. Nahkul Subedi and Balkrishna Dhakal, has been holding continuous hearings on the case since Tuesday. The writ of habeas corpus was originally filed on Baisakh 7 (April 19) by Lamichhane’s wife, Nikita Paudel.
Lamichhane had filed the writ at the Supreme Court after the Butwal bench of the High Court, Tulsipur, ordered his pre-trial detention on Chaitra 22 (April 4). He is currently being held in Rupandehi prison.
