Federal Parliament Convenes: HoR and NA Meetings Set to Address Key Reports and Bills

Both chambers of Nepal's Federal Parliament, the House of Representatives (HoR) and the National Assembly (NA), are holding their sessions today, Wednesday. The HoR meeting is scheduled for 11:00 AM, following a postponement on Tuesday due to protests by opposition parties, which halted the regular agenda.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat has outlined a tentative agenda for the HoR session. Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, will present the ‘Report of the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080’. Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will table the Economic Survey for the fiscal year 2081/82. The agenda also includes a proposal for consideration of amendments to Some Nepal Acts Related to Land Management, 2082 BS, following a clause-wise discussion. Kusum Devi Thapa, Chairperson of the Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources Committee, will present the committee’s Annual Report for 2082. Secretary General Padma Prasad Pandey stated that ministers will address oral questions concerning the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Health and Population.

Meanwhile, the NA will convene at 1:15 PM. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will present the Economic Survey for 2081/82. Additionally, Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya will propose sending the ‘Some Nepal Laws Amendment Bill, 2080’, received from the HoR, to the Legislative Management Committee for further discussion. The NA session will also feature responses from ministers to oral questions related to the Ministries of Urban Development, Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Health and Population, and Forest and Environment.
